read more ↘ a common injury. Repair of these ruptures increases patient satisfaction, strength, and cosmesis, and shortens return to competitive sports. Several repair techniques have been described in the past but recently many surgeons are using suture anchors or transosseous suture technique.
We introduce on this video a variation using knotless anchors within a precreated insertional area using a round burr.
This surgical technique allows the free tendon edge to be countersink into a trough similar to the standard transosseous technique, minimazing potential disadvantages while keeping the strength of a suture anchor repair; By tying the pre-loaded sutures to the themselves as well as the sutures in the tendon, we enhance the strength of the construct. To our knowledge, this is the first surgical demonstration describing this transosseous equivalent repair for pectoralis major rupture. We believe this will lead to improved long-term outcomes. Surgeons may want to add this technique to their repertoire.
