During the last decade, patella-femoral surgery has become an individualized „a la carte“ treatment regime. This WST AO Session provides the audience with different surgical techniques, including soft tissue reconstruction- and bony alignment procedures. Two surgical live demonstrations, expert talks on the state of the art and the future of patella-femoral treatment, and time for discussion with the audience and the experts will provide a unique educational experience.

This MPFL involves medial patellofemoral complex (MPFC) reconstruction using free graft. Fixation on the extensor mechanism is performed using a loop through the distal quadriceps tendon, securing the graft to the midpoint of the MPFC attachment. The graft is passed between layers 2 and 3 and secured to the anatomic point on the femur after confirm appropriate location and isometric function. Fixation in this case is performed utilizing an anchor that allows for blind tunnel fixation in the femur.

This session was part of the WST Festival 2024 and featured by AO Sports.
