Sharing a case of repair of Radial Tear of the Lateral Meniscus at the body ... read more ↘ anterior to popliteal hiatus extending all the way upto the red red zone.Repair is done by Inside Out technique with a lateral safety Incision .Well described and mechanical sound repair techinque followed is the HASHTAG repair where two vertical mattress stitches are passed on either side of the radial tear follwed by two horizontal mattress sutures adjacent to them giving a ripstop effect. This configuration prevents cut through of the repair sutures and provides a robust repair construct.
Other important aspect shown in the video is the biology required for meniscus healing. In isolated meniscus repair the healing depends on the adequate biology provided at the repair site. Fibrin clot augmentation provides a good substrate for the meniscus to heal. The challenge though remains in retaining the fibrin clot at the repair site. Here i have passed the sutures through the fibrin clot outside and shuttled it to the repair site and sutured it to the capsule.
