read more ↘ No access to cadaveric specimen? No problems, here we go. In the next few weeks, I will be posting some educational videos highlighting the technique on how to perform each of the most commonly utilized screws using this very simple, cheap, reliable, reusable and realistic pelvic model that I developed alongside @nickjtucker @michnardi and @beto_bui3 when they were research and AO fellows @denverhealthmedical @ortho_5280
The point of this all is to give you all an opportunity to be REALLY comfortable placing wires and screws in the pelvis. All you need is to
1. Build this model
2. Get a power drill
3. Arm yourself with a NON THREADED guide wire (2.5 mm drill bit is perfect)
4. Access a wooden board or table
5. A fluoroscopic machine
Familiarize yourselves with the Xray views needed for each of the screws (see previous post with drawings highlighting all the views you will need) and follow the next few posts for the technique you will need. Good luck to all of you wherever you may be.😊
