This portal is also useful for giving a good angle for mobilization of the posterior Bankart lesion. It is important to understand that the portal enters the rotator cuff medial to the cable of the supraspinatus and thus traverses the muscle tendon junction or the muscle itself. A 5.5mm cannula is used so a very small incision is needed.
