This system was designed to incorporate posterior cruciate retaining (PCR) knee arthroplasties, posterior stabilized (PS) ...

In the early 1990’s the various modes of constraint were not interchangeable and each system had a different set of instruments and component sizes, thus making intraoperative alteration to the level of constraint very tedious. A system with complete interchangeability was desired that would allow any size femur to be matched with any size tibia. This was borne of dissatisfaction with earlier TKA systems where the surgeon was required to match the size of the tibia to the size of the femur, causing undersizing of the tibial component.
