Overview

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide, impacting both men and women. As of 2023, it accounts for approximately one-third of all global deaths, with ischemic heart disease being the primary contributor. In the United States, cardiovascular-related events occur frequently, with someone experiencing a heart attack every 40 seconds. Given the rapid advancements in technology and techniques in cardiovascular care, continuous education on diagnosis and treatment is crucial to managing and mitigating the impact of this disease.

Learning Objectives

Looking into the future of what cardiovascular medicine will become over the next few years, the overall goal of this program is to enhance competency by providing participants with the most up-to-date developments in the diagnosis, treatment and management of cardiovascular disease and to facilitate this transfer of knowledge into practice to improve patient outcomes.

Upon completion of this program, attendees should be able to:

  • Incorporate the latest developments within interventional cardiology and assess their effects on improving interventional outcomes and overall patient care.
  • Evaluate and differentiate between the newest innovative approaches in the treatment of heart failure to optimize patient management and care.
  • Identify the recent transcatheter tricuspid valve therapies.
  • Analyze the role of noninvasive testing in diagnosing coronary artery disease (CAD) and accurately provide prognostic information to guide patient treatment and care.
  • Apply evidence-based strategies for the prevention and management of hypertension to optimize blood pressure control and reduce cardiovascular risks in patients.
  • Assess the latest advancements in cardiac imaging technologies and their role in aiding accurate diagnoses and treatment planning for various cardiovascular conditions.
  • Learn the latest treatments for diabetes and obesity in CAD patients.
