OVERVIEW
The Scripps Arrhythmias and Cardiomyopathy in Women Symposium is designed to increase competence regarding the recognition and management of cardiovascular disease in women. The symposium will explore new and emerging risk factors for women’s heart disease while highlighting areas of discrepancy in care management related to gender. Expert faculty will cover a wide range of topics including the diagnosis, management, and state-of-the-art treatment for women afflicted with heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and cardiomyopathies. The goal of the activity is to improve outcomes for women with cardiovascular disease and arrhythmias as well as provide educational interventions for both primary and secondary prevention.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After attending this live activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss cardiovascular disease, conditions and risk factors which are more common and/or unique to women.
- Identify the varied and atypical presentation of heart disease and arrhythmia in women.
- Reflect on the underutilization of standard medical and device therapies in women compared to men.
- Explore gender differences in the management of heart failure, valvular disease, cardiomyopathy, and arrhythmia with a focus on the paucity of data for women.
