This symposium aims to explore the two primary phenotypes of IBD, Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). Attendees can expect engaging lectures on recent advances in medical therapy, strategies for preventing infectious complications, pre- and post-operative prophylaxis, disease monitoring, and effective endoscopic management of disease- and surgery-related complications with leading multidisciplinary experts in this field. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • To be familiar with the current status of biological therapy in IBD
  • To be familiar with principles, indications, techniques, and outcomes of endoscopic therapy for strictures, fistulae, and surgical leaks in IBD
  • To be familiar with principles, diagnosis, and management of colitis-associated neoplasia in IBD
  • To be familiar with rescue strategies for endoscopy-associated complications

TARGET AUDIENCE

This program has been designed for regional, national, and worldwide audiences, including gastroenterologists, inflammatory bowel disease specialists, GI endoscopists, colorectal surgeons, general surgeons, GI pathologists, GI radiologists, NP/PA/RN in gastroenterology, IBD, and colorectal surgery, stoma nurses, medical students, medical/surgical residents, and GI/colorectal fellows.

ACCREDITATION

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Columbia University Department of Surgery and Amedco LLC. Amedco LLC is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
