OVERVIEW
The University of Michigan Transplant Center holds the State of the Art: Kidney & Pancreas Transplantation course each year to update health care professionals on topics in kidney & pancreas transplantation. This year the course will be a hybrid program (in-person or virtual options) on Thursday, October 19. After activity completion participants will be able to better educate their patients on transplant listing policy, non-invasive ways to monitor kidney health, insurance updates, delayed graft function, kidney companions program, pancreas transplantation, mental health interventions, and paired donation.

The goal of this course is for the following objectives to be understood and utilized within your practice:
■ Identify UNOS waitlist requirements
■ Waitlist modifications for patients listed with a race based GFR calculation
■ Growing number of non-invasive ways to monitor kidney health
■ Logistics and benefits of a community based transplant clinic
■ How changes at the national and local levels will affect patients being referred for kidney transplant
■ How the increased care needs of delayed graft function impacts the patient and their care partners practically, psychosocially, and psychologically
■ How collaboration and partnership are key components of contemporary care in the resolution of delayed graft function in the kidney transplant patient
■ How pancreas transplantation fits into the management of diabetes relative to other forms of treatment
■ Racial and ethnic disparities in mental health interventions
■ Ways that Paired Donation can increase opportunities for transplant
■ Characterize rural disparities in transplant access and leverage existing community resources to promote transplant equity
■ Building social capital as a means of overcoming specific transplant barriers
