TARGET AUDIENCE:
The 2018 Scottsdale Interventional Forum has been designed to meet the educational needs of Interventional and General Cardiologists, Vascular Surgeons, Interventional Radiologists, Cath Lab Nurses and Technicians and other medical professionals who have an interest in heart and vascular medicine.
OBJECTIVES:
- Discuss the appropriate clinical indications for catheter based therapies (versus surgical based revascularization) in complex and multi-vessel coronary artery disease.
- Explain the role of hemodynamic support modalities in Complex Higher-Risk (and indicated) Patients.
- Describe the emerging role of percutaneous coronary intervention in unprotected left main disease and the relative outcomes compared to surgical therapy.
- Discuss new and novel step platforms and their application in informed interventional practice.
- Discuss the indications for high resolution invasive coronary imaging in the catheter-based therapy of coronary artery disease.
- Interpret the results of invasive functional testing (and its relative merits) in the percutaneous treatment of coronary artery disease.
- Explain the fundamentals of a radial based approach to coronary intervention.
- Describe and differentiate the specific clinical features of appropriate use criteria and the evidence-based summaries on which PCI guidelines are developed.
- Define the role of transcatheter and surgical therapies for patients with complex aortic valvular disease.
- Explain the role of transcatheter aortic valve replacement in intermediate risk patient subsets.
- Differentiate between degenerative and functional mitral valvular disease, and to be able to discuss the relative indications for catheter based treatments (versus surgical therapy) in each of these disease states.
- Describe the emerging role of catheter based left atrial appendage therapies, as opposed to traditional pharmacotherapy, in the thromboembolic prophylaxis of atrial fibrillation.
