ACOEM's Safely Returning to Work Virtual Symposium is an integrated, comprehensive, in-depth educational offering presented by OEM health care professionals for OEM health care professionals.

Expert faculty lay out a roadmap to prepare occupational physicians and other health professionals to answer the specific scientific, technical, and practical management questions that employers and workers will be asking during the reopening and resumption of operations. 

AUDIENCE

The Virtual Symposium is designed for physicians and other health care professionals who specialize in or have an interest in occupational and environmental medicine (OEM), including nurses, physician assistants, industrial hygienists, safety professionals, environmental health specialists, and human resource professionals. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Describe the role that OEM physicians and other professionals (e.g., safety, industrial hygiene, human resources) play in returning employees back to work safely during the pandemic;
• Assess the psychological impacts that the pandemic has on workers, especially health care providers, and the strategies and resources needed to assist them;
• Cite the biological science of SARS CoV-2 transmission and the role that masking can play in reducing the transmission of the virus;
• Identify how to prepare workplaces using health and safety measures with a focus on several industries including meatpacking/food, maritime, health care, transportation, public safety, and utilities.
