OVERVIEW
This webinar will educate attendees on current trends and recommendations in the treatment of ankle fractures. Through case based learning, the course will cover reduction and fixation of the syndesmosis, current evidence on posterior malleolus fracture fixation, alternative strategies for fixation for specialized fracture types and discuss the indications for acute tibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) fusion nails. Finally, the panel will review current evidence regarding early weight bearing in ankle fractures.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:
- Evaluate for syndesmotic reduction and describe appropriate fixation techniques
- Integrate use of the TTC nail for the treatment of acute ankle fractures in their practice in the appropriate patient population
- Describe scenarios where patient's weight bearing may be safely advanced earlier than 6 weeks
