Peripheral nerve injuries are common and present a therapeutic challenge in hand surgery due to the wide variability in approach and outcome. This course will aim to discuss the pre-operative evaluation, surgical management, and rehabilitation of acute and chronic peripheral nerve injuries through a series of lectures by experts in the field of nerve surgery. Didactic lectures, case-based discussions, and Q&A panel formats will be utilized to enhance the learning experience by providing practical, usable information that can be easily incorporated into practice.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:

  • Complete a thorough preoperative assessment of peripheral nerve injuries
  • Select and apply the appropriate surgical technique for peripheral nerve injuries
  • Apply the surgical technique for an opposition tendon transfer
  • Incorporate the appropriate occupational therapy regimens and splints to maximize patient recovery after nerve surgery

TARGETED AUDIENCE

Hand Surgeons, Orthopedic and Plastic Surgeons, Rheumatologists, Hand Therapists (OT and PT), Primary Care Physicians that treat musculoskeletal issues, Sports Medicine Physicians, Residents and Fellows in Orthopedic Surgery
