OVEVIEW
With the benefit of lessons learned over the past few years at the NYU Langone's Preston Robert Tisch Center for Men's Health, it is clear that the treatment of men involves distinct clinical and social challenges. This comprehensive symposium will describe and analyze some of the diagnostic and treatment challenges that are common in an ambulatory setting when managing male patients. Special emphasis will be given to the use of diet and other lifestyle interventions, personalized to the individual patient.
TARGET AUDEINCE
Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical fellows and residents, medical students, and nurses. Focuses on practicing physicians in specialties including, but not limited to, internal medicine, gastroenterology/hepatology, cardiology, pulmonary and sleep medicine, psychiatry, neurology, dermatology, and urology/sexual health.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:
- Recognize the effect of mental health and prostate health issues on sexual health and to begin treatment or provide appropriate specialty referral for these often overlapping medical issues
- Providing optimal early recognition and prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events, with a focus on congestive heart failure, is an essential component of a clinical practice, particularly for the care of men
- More effectively interpret and utilize updated general and patient-specific guidelines for the optimal timing, intervals, and modalities for colorectal cancer screening and surveillance
