The Leukemia Symposium: Focus on Opportunities to Improve Care will discuss current state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic approaches related to the recent advances in the molecular testing and drug development in the field of acute leukemia. There will be an emphasis on available opportunities for a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes of patients with leukemia. A panel discussion will be held to discuss challenges associated with a diagnosis of cancer and potential solutions.

Symposium Objectives
- Explain the role of chemotherapy in improving outcomes of acute myeloid leukemia
- Describe the role of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant in the management of acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome
- Identify the benefits of early integration of palliative care
- List the novel therapies approved for acute myeloid leukemia
- Describe specific indications of various treatment for acute myeloid leukemia
- Recognize the role of flow cytometric, genetic, and molecular profiling in acute myeloid leukemia
- Identify challenges associated with living with cancer and potential solutions
- Recognize how to care for survivors of childhood leukemia
