Course Objectives:

After completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Know what is necessary to implement musculoskeletal ultrasound into their practice.

• Recognize the normal appearance of musculoskeletal structures on ultrasound.

• Demonstrate the proper scanning protocols for shoulder, elbow, wrist/hand, hip, knee, ankle/foot, and peripheral nerve exams.

• Utilize anatomical targets and landmarks that are useful in identifying MSK structures.

• Use proper transducer placement and system optimization to generate diagnostic ultrasound images.

• Be able to recognize the most common pathologies encountered during MSK exams.

• Do the proper set up, positioning, and approach for ultrasound guided injections of the upper and lower extremities.

• Perform and/or guide "in-plane" and "out of plane" interventional procedures.

• Use the appropriate codes for billing of complete and limited diagnostic MSK Ultrasounds and ultrasound guided injections.

• Increase their MSK referrals and bring their facility more revenue.
