This program is designed to provide the learner with the most up to date knowledge on transvenous lead extraction, approaches to minimize device related infections, and information on best practices, new techniques, technologies and guidelines to minimize and manage lead extraction complications. The program will feature case based presentations and interactive panel discussions.

OBJECTIVES

• Discuss the indications and techniques for lead extraction based on the 2017 consensus guidelines
• Critically review the best practices to prevent device infections and lead complications and describe their use in clinical practice
• Summarize the issues associated with extraction or lead abandonment, and list the most common infectious pathologies encountered with lead extraction
• Present a critical appraisal of the most recent devices, their features, and expected outcomes as well as concerns of potential adverse events
