Hands-on workshop on Friday, November 8, 2024 

This interactive workshop provides participants with a practical and immersive learning experience in various advanced GI procedures. Participants will experience hands-on learning at ten interactive stations, including but not limited to endoscopic mucosal resection, Barrett’s ablation, clipping and hemostasis, EUS, biliary stenting, esophageal manometry, TIF, ESD and POEM. These active learning stations allow participants to develop practical skills and knowledge in a controlled environment under expert guidance. By participating in this workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to stay up-to-date with the latest advanced GI procedures and enhance their skills in upper and lower GI endoscopy, advanced endoscopic therapy and more.

Live Endoscopy course on Saturday, November 9, 2024 

This course provides innovative updates in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy for health care professionals in the greater Midwest region. Distinguished faculty will present cutting-edge topics in gastroenterology and hepatology, equipping attendees with the latest skills and knowledge that can be applied in clinical practice. Basic and advanced techniques in therapeutic endoscopy will be covered through a series of engaging didactic lectures, video forums and live endoscopy cases presented by expert practitioners. By attending this course, participants will stay current with the latest advances and techniques in the field, expanding their knowledge and enhancing patient care.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate clinical presentations of PPI refractory GERD and non-cardiac chest pain and design effective management plans incorporating alternative treatments and therapies.
  • Identify dysplastic Barrett’s esophagus using the latest diagnostic tools and implement treatment protocols.
  • Integrate advanced imaging techniques into routine colonoscopy procedures and compare their efficacy with traditional methods.
  • Explore current treatment algorithms for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and formulate personalized treatment plans based on patient-specific factors and latest guidelines.
  • Analyze recent advancements in the understanding and management of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and apply new evidence-based strategies in clinical practice.
  • Develop comprehensive management plans for patients with elevated liver enzymes and metabolic-associated liver disease and utilize endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) in their assessment and management.
  • Identify the various types of pancreatic cysts and their clinical significance and develop management plans.
  • Examine the latest techniques in the endoscopic management of obesity and discuss the potential applications of artificial intelligence in gastrointestinal practices to enhance diagnostic and treatment capabilities.

Target Audience

This course is designed for gastroenterologists, gastroenterology fellows, gastroenterology nurses, GI nurse practitioners and health technicians.

Accreditation

All participants are required to sign in at the beginning of each day. A certificate of completion will be provided to all activity participants based on completion of the program evaluation, documentation of actual attendance time, meeting minimum attendance requirements specific to the activity, and payment in full. If you are not paid in full, a link to complete an evaluation and get your certificate will be emailed to you upon receipt of payment. 

Physicians: The University of Kansas Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

APRNs/Nurses: The University of Kansas Medical Center designates this activity for a maximum of 7 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Continuing education credit will be issued according to documented attendance.
