The Critical Concepts in Shoulder and Elbow Course is designed to provide a focused update on shoulder and elbow topics across the spectrum of sports medicine, trauma, and arthroplasty through a combination of didactic presentations, interactive case-based panel discussions, surgical videos, and lively debates. Our expert faculty will share their insights and experiences on various topics, including fractures, shoulder instability, rotator cuff, sports injuries of the shoulder and elbow, and shoulder arthroplasty.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Orthopaedic surgeons, fellows, residents, physician assistants, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals whose scope of practice includes surgical and non-surgical management of shoulder and elbow injuries and disorders.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Attendees should, at the completion of this course, be able to:
- Evaluate diagnostic options and develop treatment strategies for shoulder injuries including instability, rotator cuff injuries, and labral tears.
- Evaluate rotator cuff repair options for different patient categories; understand and evaluate the benefits associated with various rotator cuff repair techniques (single vs. double row, knot vs. knotless, and the use of augmentation devices).
- Compare the various treatment options for massive, retracted, and irreparable rotator cuff tears; consider repair strategies that optimize outcomes for failed rotator cuff repairs.
