Event info
Survivorship is an important aspect of cancer care that requires a coordinated approach with primary health care providers. There are distinct physical and psychosocial effects of cancer treatment and issues that impact a patient such as fertility, sexuality, weight gain, and post-treatment complications as it affects heart health. These will be addressed by experts in a conversation with one another through real case illustrations with discussions and questions and answers to follow. This conference will provide up-to-date pre-treatment planning for fertility and how genetic results impact that planning, addressing post-treatment sexual issues and effects of cardiotoxic drugs and cardioprotective planning. This past year during the pandemic, more cancer survivors have become anxious, depressed, and sedentary. Physical activity has significantly diminished. Obesity has increased and so has binge eating and drinking alcohol. This course will also focus on strategies for wellness and improved quality of life with a conversation and case illustrations between the physical therapist, nutritionist, and physical trainer.
