“See the Sound. Hear the Science.” What theme can better capture the experience of the 29th Annual American Society of Echocardiography Scientific Sessions in Nashville, Tennessee?
June 22-26, 2018, we will gather at the Gaylord Opryland® Resort & Convention Center for the premier echocardiography educational event of the year. Featuring an emphasis on research with presentation of abstracts and posters highlighting the latest science, along with sessions on adapting guidelines into practice, echo lab operations, and the use of social media will ensure we and others “see” the value and utility of echocardiography.
The symposia cover a wide range of topics, including cardio-oncology, multimodality imaging, and structural heart disease. The Edler, Feigenbaum, Kalmanson, and Kerber lectures will feature luminaries in the field. In addition, “Lessons from the Legends,” “Stress Echo with the Experts,” and “Simulated Heart Team Sessions” provide expert advice from renowned authorities in echocardiography.
Individual educational tracks will address both foundational concepts and evolving practice in the areas of circulation ultrasound, essentials of echocardiography, pediatric echocardiography, and perioperative imaging.
On behalf of this year’s Program Committee, we would like to highlight several features of the upcoming sessions:
- An Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) Boot Camp will again be offered on Friday, June 22, in order to educate and assist you with your accreditation questions and concerns.
- We will offer sessions on the use of point of care ultrasound (POCUS) in Extra Cardiac Imaging and Extracorporeal Life Support. Additional topics include New Frontiers for POCUS and Pediatric Point of Care Ultrasound.
- Sessions will be offered on lab management, education, and career development for both sonographers and physicians. In addition, a panel discussion on Pathways to Leadership for Women in ASE will be held.
- A Tuesday morning session offers case-based presentations from the new CASE (Cardiovascular Imaging Case Reports) journal.
- Chalk Talks, which allow dynamic interactions with luminaries in the field of echocardiography, will occur throughout the meeting.
- Learning labs which allow for hands-on education in the areas of strain, 3D, and other new technologies in echocardiography
But that’s not all! The ASE Foundation’s Annual Research Awards Gala on Sunday evening will celebrate individual and ASE achievements. The Science & Technology Theaters and 3rd Echovation Challenge will provide multiple opportunities to advance your knowledge. There will be numerous networking opportunities for career development interspersed throughout the program. In addition, Echo Jeopardy and Pediatric Echo Jeopardy are back! Look for these ever popular, fast-paced, educational offerings the afternoon of Saturday, June 23.
Please join us at ASE 2018 at Nashville’s Gaylord Opryland in June! Plan to bring your family to enjoy “The Music City,” where you can participate in a whole host of one-of-akind experiences. We hope you take advantage of all that the 2018 Scientific Sessions have to offer. See y’all there!
