This is a one day live virtual conference on home dialysis sponsored by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Practitioners, researchers, clinician-scientists and RNs who are experts in the field of kidney disease will discuss current developments in the field of Peritoneal Dialysis and related dialysis modalities. There will be a patient panel as well so that we can get the patient perspective. There will be a variety of topics, including the role of social media in dialysis to providing palliative care. The conference is designed for health professionals involved in established PD programs, as well as those working in new and developing programs. Both researchers and clinicians will find sessions of interest to them.
Objectives
- Review the patient’s perspective on choosing home dialysis
- Discuss the importance of evaluating changes in the peritoneal membrane.
- Describe how to optimize prevention of peritonitis in PD
- Review increasing access to home dialysis
