OVERVIEW
LEE AND I ARE EXCITED TO INVITE YOU TO the 74th Annual Meeting of the Southern Neurosurgical Society at the brand-new Conrad Hotel in Orlando, FL. We expect the 2024 meeting to set records for attendance due to the fabulous destination and exciting program. You won’t want to miss the cutting-edge content or the camaraderie with your colleagues! Dr. Peter Fecci has organized the scientific program around the theme of Sustainability in Neurosurgery. We are excited about the lineup of talks from senior leaders about sustaining careers in neurosurgery, as well as the “showdowns” in our various specialties. We will hear from Dave Limbrick and John Sampson as the Hudson and Semmes Lecturers. We will also honor Dom Coric as the 2024 Distinguished Practitioner. Our 2024 Downing Lecturer is Haley Fortier, one of Food & Wine magazine’s “Sommeliers of the Year” in 2019 and a semifinalist in the 2020 James Beard Awards. Her wine bar in Boston, haley.henry, offers responsibly sourced and small production wine, tinned fish, ceviche, and charcuterie. Haley and Dr. Fecci will combine their expertise in the ticketed Wine Tasting Experience on Friday afternoon.
Our location this year offers a luxury retreat among the bustle of Orlando. Designed with contemporary décor and a full-service experience, it is situated on the brand-new Evermore Resort. Evermore is surrounded by a nature preserve, home to two golf courses and spa with water garden, and has the only white sand beaches in Central Florida! You and your family can enjoy an array of dining options and activities on-site or ride the complimentary transportation to the four neighboring Disney theme parks.
I can’t wait for our Family Night at Icon Park. There will be something for everyone— stunning views of Orlando at sunset on The Wheel, surprises around every corner of the Museum of Illusions, and a chance to let our hair down with a party and games on the lawn.
We hope that all SNS members will stay through the Saturday evening Final Banquet as we’re offering both a dance party and an after-dinner cigar lounge. We are visiting Orlando in peak season and the new resort is sure to have high demand, so please book your hotel rooms as soon as possible, particularly if you plan an extended stay. It is an incredible honor to serve as President of the Southern this year. We look forward to reconnecting with you this March.
