OVERVIEW

This activity aims to discuss the diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment of common gastrointestinal and liver diseases that afflict women more commonly and/or in different ways than men. This activity also aims to discuss strategic solutions to barriers that women gastroenterologists and other women healthcare professionals face in their career development. The educational information presented in this activity will add to participants’ knowledge about gastrointestinal diseases that afflict women more commonly and how to recognize and manage them. As such, it will improve their competence and performance as they apply the knowledge in their practice, which will, in turn, translate into better patient outcomes. The career development topics will help the women gastroenterologists and other women providers navigate the challenges they face in their careers, whether in private practice or academia, to find success and progress further in their chosen paths.
