Overview

This two-day program is designed for professionals interested in using point of care (POC) musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) in the pediatric population. With the extensive experience of the local and international faculty, the program is designed to meet the needs of the beginner and the advanced clinician. The intended audience includes pediatricians, sports medicine providers, orthopedic providers, rheumatologists, emergency medicine providers, advanced practice providers, urgent care providers, physical therapists, athletic trainers, chiropractors and sonographers. 

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the selection criteria for transducers and equipment settings in pediatric musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations.
  • Demonstrate the appropriate use of ultrasound, using proper machine settings, for pediatric musculoskeletal examinations.
  • Identify and discuss the pediatric musculoskeletal anatomy pertinent to ultrasound of children at different ages.
  • Identify and discuss the appearance of different tissues when obtaining a musculoskeletal ultrasound on children.
  • Identify and describe normal findings, common pathologies, and less common pathologies on ultrasound of the major joints and other musculoskeletal structures in pediatric patients.
  • Examine the spectrum of musculoskeletal ultrasound diagnostics and interventional procedures in pediatrics, highlighting their benefits and limitations for clinical application.
