OVERVIEW
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center Division of Surgical Oncology is hosting a one-day symposium focused on the multidisciplinary management of gastric and esophageal cancers. The purpose of this activity is to educate healthcare providers on current standards of care as well as evolving new therapies in the treatment of these patients. The symposium will provide a unique opportunity for clinicians involved in the care of gastric and esophageal cancer patients to learn from and interact with leading national faculty in order to increase clinical knowledge, apply new data into practice, and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Understand current and evolving strategies in the neoadjuvant therapy for gastric and esophageal cancer
- Review and discuss current surgical therapy for gastric and esophageal cancers including incorporation of minimally invasive techniques.
- Identify the indications and outcomes for endoscopic management in early stage gastroesophageal cancers endoscopic therapy in early stage cancers.
- Discuss the role of chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy, in the management of patients with gastric and esophageal cancers
