OVERVIEW
The South Side Pediatric Asthma Center is working to improve health outcomes for children with asthma by facilitating access to care, promoting standardized treatment, and educating through community engagement and outreach. The Asthma Education Summit gathers health care providers, community members, school representatives, and other community-based organizations to disseminate asthma information and promote asthma education.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Identify the latest asthma guidelines and how to apply them in practice;
- Describe the causes of exercise-induced asthma and how to manage it;
- Recall the benefits of exercise for people with asthma;
- Discuss how to support the social and emotional health of young people with asthma;
- Discuss the benefits of community health workers and how they support parents of a child with asthma.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed for physicians, healthcare professionals, school representatives, and community-based organizations dedicated to the identification and treatment of asthma.
ACCREDITATION
The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 2.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
