Overview
Speakers at this conference will integrate new information presented at the 2019 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium into existing paradigms. Discussion will be relevant to researchers, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who care for patients with breast cancer or those at risk for the disease.
Target Audience
This symposium is directed towards researchers, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals involved in breast cancer prevention treatment and survivorship.
Objectives
At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Determine best application of new targeted therapies in patients with early stage and metastatic disease
- Discuss the advances in systemic therapy likely to change current practices for treatment of breast cancer
- Utilize genomic tools for systemic therapy decision making and prediction of treatment response
- identify germline genetic testing options for hereditary breast cancer, including advantages and disadvantages of extended panel testing
- Evaluate local therapy options for operable breast cancer depending on stage, and the use of neo-adjuvant therapy
- identify evidence.-based recommendations for decreasing symptoms and improving quantity and/or quality of life in survivors
