OVERVIEW

The Twelfth Annual UCLA Fetal Cardiac Imaging and Evaluation Symposium will be offered again this year remotely, live-streamed to the comfort of your home or office on Saturday, October 1, 2022—and also recorded in entirety for review after the symposium has concluded. As in prior years, this 12th annual symposium brings together a world-class group of speakers—with well over a hundred years of fetal cardiac imaging experience—in a truly interactive, live-streaming format. This year's faculty—including widely acclaimed sonographers, maternal-fetal medicine sub specialists and pediatric cardiologists—will provide a fully updated, clinically oriented and state-of-the-art program. The symposium will be dedicated to providing registrants with real-life tips and pearls aimed at sonographers and physicians who perform or interpret fetal cardiac screening examinations or dedicated fetal echocardiography. In addition to live scanning on actual patients, state-of-the-art presentations by our expert faculty will address a wide variety of clinically relevant topics, including, but not limited to: updated guidelines for fetal cardiac screening and fetal echocardiography; how to optimize your image; expanded sessions on normal and abnormal four-chamber views, outflow tract views, and three-vessel views; insights into current risk factors for fetal heart disease when fetal cardiac screening is normal; evaluation of heart failure; first trimester fetal cardiac evaluation; round- table discussions on color Doppler and degraded acoustic windows; and live patient testimonials from the patients themselves.

As in prior years, if you are looking mainly for statistics or reviews of the literature, this course is not for you. But, if you are looking to improve your ability to scan or to interpret scans of the fetal heart, either for fetal cardiac screening or for fetal echocardiography, this highly popular annual symposium may be the most important day of learning you will have ever experienced—and all from the comfort of your very own home or office.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The 12th Annual UCLA Fetal Cardiac Imaging and Evaluation Symposium is targeted toward all healthcare professionals seeking to improve their ability to scan and evaluate the fetal heart. The symposium is aimed specifically toward obstetric/cardiac sonographers, physicians (maternal-fetal medicine subspecialists, obstetricians, radiologists, and pediatric cardiologists), sonographers/fellows in training, and nurses and other healthcare professionals involved with the management of pregnancies complicated by fetal heart disease. This year's live and recorded options will facilitate participation and viewing among fetal cardiac clinicians from around the world.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this intensive, one-day symposium, participants will be better able to:

  • Identify current guidelines for fetal cardiac screening and fetal echocardiography
  • Perform fetal cardiac screening and fetal echocardiography
  • Utilize various forms of Color Doppler
  • Optimize image quality and angle of acquisition
  • Recognize and evaluate major forms of congenital heart disease
  • Identify the best approach to imaging patients with degraded acoustic windows

ACCREDITATION
