OVERVIEW
The symposium emphasizes the interprofessional team approach needed to improve diabetes care and prevent complications. The ultimate goal of this symposium is to improve clinicians’ knowledge and understanding of current guidelines and information, on the treatment of diabetes, in an effort to ultimately improve patient outcomes.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this activity, healthcare team members will be able to:
- Differentiate older agents from newer ones in the diabetes treatment algorithm.
- Examine the various mechanisms of action, benefits, and side effects of new diabetic therapies.
- Compare consensus algorithms (ADA, AACE) in the treatment of diabetes.
- Establish timelines and dosage for insulin therapy based on individual patient profile.
- Distinguish between different types of diabetes: LADA, MODY, and PTDM.
- Incorporate new technology into management of diabetes.
- Distinguish between the various GLP1-RA therapies and the role of each in weight loss in diabetics vs nondiabetics.
- Recognize the different glycemic goals in diabetes during pregnancy and in inpatient settings.
