The modified Lemaire tenodesis is an procedure that is indicated as a supplement to anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction in selected cases. Although the best use of the procedure is still under development, current indications have been suggested to be primary ACL cases with a large rotational instability (clinically assessed by the pivot shift maneuver), patients with a high risk of failure after surgery and selected revision cases. There are also indications that a combined intra-articular ACL reconstruction and an extra-articular procedure can have a protective effect on the ACL graft during early postoperative rehabilitation.
