These techniques aim to better reproduce patients’ native anatomy and physiological joint laxity, therefore improving the prosthetic hip/knee kinematics and functional outcomes. He proposed the “restricted” kinematic alignment protocol (rKA) to reliably produce a prosthetic knee with component/knee/limb alignments that always fall within an evidence-based safe alignment range which is compatible with long term implant survivorship.
